impressionist

Following the great tradition of French impressionist movement led by Monet, Mohd Rizlan is in the forefront of Malaysian impressionist movement today.

Together with impressionist artist, as Peter Liew, Razak Abdullah and others, this group of artist travel throughout the country and abroad capturing images of nature in vibrant colours on canvas, recording the momentary and transcient effects of sunlight and shadow in nature more often painting plein air and finishing the painting in the studio. Painting landscape in nature and episodes of modern life, they emphasized on vivid overall effects rather than details. Bright beautiful broken-colors effects applied with swift brush strokes often marks impressionist art.

Through Mohd Rizlan pictorical voyage one encounters nature in vibrating colours executed with the artist own style using the brush, pallet knife or other methods necessary to produce the desired effect. Through his emotions and sensitivity his impression of nature is vibrant and alive on canvas.

As he confessed “ I captured landscape in nature with my minds eye”. The vibrating light and melody of landscape finds shelter in my heart. I open my arms to nature eternal beauty embracing with fond tenderness the natural beauty comforting me. Battling with paint and brush on canvas to record Gods creation for humanity. The mastering of his impressionistic style delivers in his art, the creation of contrast tones and vivid rhythmic dynamism of light and shadows are without dough his strongest - points. He is truly a tuned colourist who capture the spiritual ambiance of each landscape, nor as it is in nature, but through the way he see it, created with the colours he loves. The artwork he creates is significant as he is fully dedicated to his passion for nature. One can say that no landscape is beyond his limits. He paints oceans, forest, rivers, lakes and flowers, everything that capture his keen interest. He is known to be an impressionist, a present day artist who embraces a style whose roots have not yet stopped its development. He is a knowledgeable painter with a personal voice and style. He has immersed himself in the glories of impressionism. His brush and heart are dedicated to making the art of the impressionists the art today. With his past and current works, Mohd Rizlan, during these times of great uncertainty and material progress, manages to seize the legacy of beauty left to art by the past impressionists, helping us to retain some disappearing values.
